Mr. Krauter is a digital 3D artist specializing in Technical themes and Science Fiction. His work can be seen on the covers of the Science Fiction magazines such as Analog, Asimov's and Science Fiction Age. He also creates animation for film and video using the same software.

Mr. Krauter received his BFA in 1988 from the State University of New York at Stonybrook.

In 1996 he was nominated for one of the prestigious Hugo® Awards for Best Original Artwork—the first time ever a digital artist was nominated for that award.

In 1997 he won an AnLab (Readers Choice) award from Analog Magazine—again, the first time a digital artist won that award.

In October 1997, he was awarded Gold and Silver awards by the San Francisco Society of Illustrators annual show.
