Harold Groot
The fifth President of the Forum. For a semester Harold was the ONLY Forumite as all others had left or graduated and no new members appeared. "He singlehandedly kept the Forum alive against the advancing forces of Darkness/Polity until reinforcements arrived." (Really!)
Notes
Per the dedication at the beginning of Log 22, "Log 22 has been donated in the memor of Harold Groot, who kept the Forum open single-handedly for an entire year. Thanx, Harold! You were a great Head Librarian"
«He was one of the freshmen who called a meeting in October 1974 to form a science fiction club. Harold Groot, president of the SFForum since the spring 1973 meeting that deposed the absentee Norm Hochberg who had succeeded on the resignation of Lou Stathis (later a pro editor and more recently dead), attended the meeting and let them know that there already WAS a club, with its own library even...and led them to the Original Forum. Harold and Phil Markowitz being the only active members of the old Forum left (a third one did sign into the log once later), the new members became the bulk of the new SFF, and from January '75 Lenny was President until succeeded by Lee "I am the President, make no mistake about that" Burberry a year later.» (1997-12-30)
