Suddenly Bear is a term used for the Ashcoat Bear. Since the card has Flash, it can be played any time, often to block an oncoming assault. When the bear is played, it is usually accompanied by the line "Suddenly Bear!" and more recently by a swipe of one's hand to the opposite side and "Wham!". The latter started to occur after a movie run to see The Golden Compass.
The phrase is attributed to a Magic game between Roman Levant and Ian Moss.
