Brown Tide

The second regeneration of the Forum (in the basement of Hendrix College) was ever so slightly down slope from the slop sink down the hall. When a sewage drain problem would occur, the resultant Brown Tide would flow toward the Forum door. An arc of carpet that was ruined had to be cut away leaving a bare space 3 feet into the room. That bare space was painted variously as a pentagram and then a large black C.E. Hex. Eventually we resorted to gluing a wooden slat to the floor as a doorsill/dam.
