An email this morning was sent to all attendees of the 55th Anniversary Event (this is currently our best list of alumni outside of the Facebook). I have included a copy of this email below this message for all those who were unable to attend. We appreciate everyones help with this. I would like to emphasize that ๐ข๐Ÿ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐’๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ฒ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐จ๐ค ๐Ÿ๐š๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐œ๐ก ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐จ๐ง๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ข๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ๐Ÿ (please sign the petition as well). We are working alongside LGBTQ+ Alliance and AP and would like all of us to move forward on a united front in order to amplify one another's voices. We deeply appreciate all the enthusiasm you all have shown so far, it means the world to us current Forumites that we have such a great community surrounding us. Thank you all, the email transcript begins now: Hello! First and foremost thank you for attending the 55th Anniversary event. We loved hearing all of your great stories about the Forum and its history! We are emailing you today to tell you about what's happening with club spaces on Stony Brook University campus. Currently, Animated Perspectives, LGBT+ Alliance, and Smash Bros. Club are losing their long held rooms on Stony Brook University campus on May 17th. It is unknown as to what these spaces will be turned into, but Campus Life Centers are affirmative in their desire to remove club specific spaces from Stony Brook campus. In one year from now, May 2025, the Science Fiction Forum will follow suit and be evicted from our space in the Student Union. This includes the Lounge Space and the library. As you all know, without a lounge and library there's no way that we can function as the largest free lending library of science fiction, fantasy, and horror on the eastern seaboard. If you would like to help our club keep a space on campus, then please check out the link below to sign our group petition. There are emails listed as well if you would like to reach out further. If you work on the Stony Brook faculty or have information that may help in securing our club space, either in the Student Union or somewhere else on campus, please reach out at this email. Thank you for your time and support. We can use all the help we clubs can get in these trying times. All the best, The Science Fiction Forum
