Spring 2014#3 By Ashley Goldie Himmelstein on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 8:32 PM President: Welcome to our new meeting room, at our new time, same channel. I got this room for us you’re welcome. Apparently a lot of people have been watching a lot of non-genre stuff in the forum so we are instituting a new rule, business hours only genre things can be played and during non-business hours should even one person want to put on genre (when non-genre is on) then they get to. Vice President: While we have people who clean the forum please clean up after yourself also. No pigs allowed. Treasurer: We have allocations and I’m writing our budget proposal Secretary: Broken physics doesn’t count as genre Librarian: We have a library, which is now on OpenBiblio. Shelves will be built soon. Head AC: Saturday’s Maintenance Day was unfortunately for the most part unsuccessful, due to the last minutes shift in days, which I accept responsibility for. We will be trying again next Sunday, so those who wish to help are strongly encouraged to do so. -The Matrix Pizza Party and Involvement Fair were successful and we managed to get a couple of new faces for the event last night. However, as the Forum is always looking for new membership, don’t hesitate to encourage your friends to come down. Public Relations should also be recruiting Forumites to distribute flyers and spread the word about us. We should do more showings of movies, offering free food to attract non Forumites, and advertising as such. -The date for the Masquerade Ball will be April 18th- Formal dress and masks strongly encouraged. -There are plans in the works to schedule a showing of the animated orgy-massacre of terribleness that is Food Fight: When good food goes bad, provided we can get the rights to show it. In the mean time, familiarize yourselves with the film, so that we can possibly put on a Rocky Horror style event with props and callbacks (Jon Tron just put out a video on it). -The Variety Show will be in early May, but PLEASE start thinking about acts NOW! We want to really showcase the many talents of the forum, and we’ll need to practice. -I want to start doing live readings of book chapters again, and advertising them as small, bi weekly events. I would also like to restart the tradition of EroticShatner (ask Hat Pete). -Once the weather finally gets warmer, we will be more outdoor events including boffer jousts and dodgeball games against other clubs. Admonishments: -Now that meeting is going to be closer to the Forum, people should REALLY be showing up to meetings (yes I am aware of the irony of not actually being here.) Seriously guys, it’s important because it gives us a place to discuss and debate as a group, and it makes us look good when more people show up! -At the risk of sounding like the evil dean of a 70s college movie, please try to limit the amount of time you guys spend on your laptops in the Forum, ESPECIALLY on the tables. I understand the appeal of having a place to play games, but it takes up a lot of space, lessens your interaction with others, and makes us look like more of a gaming club. -Honorable Mentions -Travis, who serves as 4 people yesterday for an hour. -George, who showed up for Saturday’s maintenance day without being told in person about it, and covered an additional shift yesterday in which he worked on shelving and categorizing books in the library. GroupE-Board: Expanding off of having less laptops in the forum, please keep allvideo game playing to the back table and give table space preference to peoplewho want to read, do homework or eat food. Historian: The Tale of the Great Shanking: Once upon at time there was fellow known as Yi in the forum, whom was quite a short-tempered person. Once after being told to simmer down, Yi challenged the individual to tell him that again. After being told to simmer down again Yi decided to stab the individual. Yi did notunderstand what the big deal was and to prove so proceeded to stab himself, until the police arrived. Thus one of the few people who have ever been banned from the Forum was banned. Committees: Ted has volunteered as tribute for Head of the Authors committee, since That One Guy never came back. Old business: Clean, especially after events New business: Clean and we have more books to put in the system Announcements: Allocation Report, Total: $193.22 Vendor Breakdown:Amazon $193.22 Books: Dragon Haven, Daughter of the Forest, Wizards at War 4, A Wizard of Mars, Five Fists of Science, Johnny The Homicial Maniac, Black No More, V-S Day: A Novel of Alternate History, DMZ The Deluxe Edition Book One, The Anxiety of Kalix the Werewolf Comics: Batman: Li'l Gotham Vol. 1 Movies: Carrie, Fist of the North Star, The World's End
