Meeting notes 4/29/10                       

Meeting opens at 7:01

 

President: Hi. So I just want to bring this up right now, we figured out the budget, and Pete will talk more specifically. The phone led to $120 of our money being spent. Can anyone justify that? Some people claim it’s worth having, so that we can contact people in case of emergencies, and so that people can contact us. It is put to a vote. We’re keeping the phone. For all those who are curious, the picnic is this Sunday. I’ll be passing around a roster later, so I know what to buy and who’s bringing what. We are going to meet in the 4M at noon Sunday. Directions: Take Nicholls South. Take LIE East. Take exit 67 south to Yaphank Ave. Cross bridge and make 2nd left onto Gerard Blvd. Take that all the way down and the park is on the left. As everyone knows, nominations are tonight. We’re going to be voting for President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian.

Vice President: There’s no rant tonight. Most of you have seen that the whiteboard is in the process of going up. Don’t touch it, it might fall. The next thing is, I’ve been talking about Tabletop Hooligans for a while, that’s not gonna happen until next semester. Sodas are in the fridge for 50 cents.

Treasurer: We have no money. Our goal of spending our budget was overhyped, so we can’t get a blu-ray player or any Regatta stuff. We’re $33 over with the BJ’s allocation, so once we get that straightened out, things will be good.

Secretary: Hello. The weather’s lovely.

Librarian: This Saturday, Ian and I will be going to 4th World for graphic novels. They’re more expensive than we thought, so we’ll be getting fewer of them. Shiftholders, keep up the good work. There are a bunch of books on the librarian’s desk and there’s a big cart that need to be put in the catalogue. You don’t need to shifthold during reading week.

Head AC: (by proxy) Picnic is on Sunday. Show up. Adib’s bringing a frissbee. You can rent boats for about $6. Iron Man 2 is coming out next Friday. We’re going Thursday at Midnight. I suggest buying tickets in advance. We will meet in the 4M beforehand.

Sub AC for Life: Absent, Daniel speaks. Next Friday I will be starting a Dr. Who marathon to put them on DVD, probably starting around 11 with “Spearhead from Space”. There’s a lot that we have that aren’t out on DVD. 

Phil: After Finals, I’ll be taking the VHS to DVD converter back to Liz, and returning it to the 4M in the fall. 

Daniel: If anyone else wants to donate a machine, let me know so I can use it over the summer.

Historian: Howie’s Tale of the Infamous Picnic (as Told by Phil) [but not really]

 

Committees:

PR: There's a club and a website. Picnic is Sunday.

 Jmax: There’s a wiki for the 4M. Fill it in. Make your own (but don’t edit it)! 

Daniel recommends that we get a corkboard to put on or near the door and get us out into the open. It’s not good, but it’s better than we’ve got.

Fundraising: The Hat is Sad.

Authors: Is having an existential crisis.

 

Old Business: Clean! Jmax holds a record for bench pressing. 

New Business: Clean!

Announcements: Holly tells us about animal-shaped rubber bands. Lukas will bring down a (brand new!) Princess Leia poster. There is talk of updating the logo. It is proposed that this become a committee. This will be voted on.
