Meeting notes: October 29th, 2009 [Oct. 29th, 2009|10:15 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order at 8:29:30 PM President’s Report (Jackie): Our President isn’t here to-night, he’s at a conference in D.C. Holly: Lukas said that he got an e-mail from USG saying that they’ll be dealing with the phone situation on [November] 22nd. Vice President’s Report: CLEAN. The chair sitting outside of the Forum is not a garbage can. If you really want to throw out your garbage without going upstairs, take it down the hall to the bathrooms. I spoke to Pedro about the access list and it should be updated by next week. We all know about the door. I met with Victor earlier this week to have him look over his security tapes. The university isn’t so much mad because someone took a door, but because they wanted to dispose the door because IT IS INSULATED WITH ASBESTOS. There are specific regulations about the disposal of asbestos and now there is asbestos that is unaccounted for. Ian: Campus believes this was done by our club. We are going to take the blame for this if the door doesn’t come back. WHOEVER TOOK THE DOOR, PLEASE BRING IT BACK. This could screw over the club whose memories you are trying to preserve! Treasurer’s Report (Former Treasurer Peter): Hi! Secretary’s Report: Everything I want to say will get covered under other stuff. Moving on! Librarian’s Report (Holly): All of this comes from Lukas via e-mail: There are instructions about further unpacking of the library up on the Forum LiveJournal, so if you want to help you should check it out. We are hoping to get the library computer set up soon and that’s all dependant on Aaron (Phil, chimes in: Aaron says he’s working on it). I want to thank Tall Andrew for getting back to me. AC Report: I’ll be making an allocation later. Yesterday was our Halloween event, I’m not sure exactly how to rate it. I see people here that I saw at the Halloween event and never before, so that’s good. It didn’t go as smoothly as it did last year. Festivus is in the works. The current date being talked about among the officers is Saturday, December 5th. That date is not confirmed yet, so don’t start cancelling things but try not to schedule anything else for that day. We would love to see as many alumni as are capable of showing up. Jackie: It should be noted that we’re officially not allowed to do events after the last day of classes (e.g. Reading Day). We never had a problem before because we didn’t have to book a room, but now we do. Ian: FFIX is almost done. I would like there to be more boxes unpacked before we start another game. Roman: Tuesday at 2:30 we will continue the reading of “The Shadow God” by: Aaron Rayburn. Sub AC for Life: (not present) Historian’s Report (Jackie): Once upon a time we were in Harriman. There were four doors. Now there are only three. Committees Ian Committee: Still does not exist. PR: There were flyers for Halloween. They were good. Fundraising: Peter’s hat is still an effective method of fundraising! Old Business Jackie: We have a website. Clean. Peter: Shelve. Roman: If you have time to play Final Fantasy IX, you have time to shelve! Ian: … but if you can’t properly alphabetise… play FF IX. Roman: Phil’s mother. New Business Ian: I would like to make an allocation of $330.38 to Amazon.com to get us more TV series. These series are: Doctor Who, Season 4; Sarah Jane Adventures, Season 1; Complete Hercules; Complete Bristol County Jr.; Complete Jack of All Trades; and True Blood, Season 1. Motion Passes. Jackie: I got an e-mail from Maria on Wednesday morning saying: “In the interest of maintaining your USG budget, I would update your constitution a little bit. It seems fine as it is but in the membership clause you mention that the club is open to everyone. I would add somewhere in there that ‘only those individuals paying the Undergraduate Student Activities Fee can vote on matters pertaining to the budget.’” We need to make a constitutional change. Anyone is allowed to attend our events and use our library but they can’t be “members” unless they are people who pay the undergraduate student activity fee. We’ll figure out the exact wording of the proposed change later. We love older Forumites and we don’t want to push them away! This is just so we can keep being a club and getting USG funds. Announcements Holly: Lukas and I were talking about doing some sort of gift-exchange at Festivus… just something to think about. Jackie: ROMAN, PUT THE TABLE DOWN! Roman: One: Fuck, Cablevision and their shit – for serious. They made me punch through me wall. Two: Glee is awesome. Watch it. Phil: Heroes might get cancelled. Ian: This does not apply to people who normally can’t make it or those who may have had exams this evening, but… we almost didn’t have quorum for meeting to-night! Your officers, who schedule their time to be here, don’t like the thought of coming here and not being able to have meeting. Show up to fucking meeting if you want things to happen! Meeting closed at 9:03 PM
