Meeting notes: October 22nd, 2009 [Oct. 22nd, 2009|10:23 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order at 8:30 PM President’s Report: As some of you may have already heard, someone stole one of the library doors from the old Forum. Victor has a security camera set up in that hallway and I’ve been trying to get in touch with him. Campus is pissed - but not at the Forum. We’re working on getting the situation sorted out. On that note, if people want to do side projects, come to me first and let me know about it, you’re allowed to do your vigilante work for the Forum but I would appreciate a heads up. I contacted USG about getting the Forum a phone, which I think is important especially since most cell phones get no reception down there; hopefully we’ll have a phone set up soon. I will not be here next week, so either Roman or Jackie can run meeting. Vice President’s Report (Lisa): I’m Jackie, I have been kidnapped by Lisa! Treasurer’s Report: Apparently our budget has been frozen… Secretary’s Report: I actually know quite a lot about the budget situation. There was some sort of USG leadership conference that we were unaware of. With the shuffling of officers we’ve had going on lately, we weren’t made aware of it. I sent an e-mail to the VP of Clubs at USG… Jackie: I actually got in contact with her and she said that our budget should be fine and we’re working on resolving the situation. Librarian’s Report: If you put any work into the library thank you very much, I appreciate it. Thanks to Sam and Kingbird for getting back to me. Response on LiveJournal has been kind of lukewarm about the shelving event… but I’ll be coming down at 1:00 PM this Sunday (October 25th) and we’ll go as long as people are willing to get work done (The Union is open on Sunday until (9:00 PM). AC Report: Various ACs have been running events – and while I 98% trust all of your judgements, I would still like to get a heads up that you’re doing something. Spur of the moment movie nights are fine though. Seeing as it’ll be a bit before the library will be able to make any strong expenditures into our budget, I’m going to be making a DVD allocation shortly after Halloween. I haven’t decided whether I’ll be going for series or movies, but I think we get a lot more use out of series. If you have any preferences, give me suggestions. I’m leaning toward getting some more fantasy stuff because we’ve built up our sci-fi and horror collection a lot more recently. We still need cheap and effective prizes for Halloween! Peter is thankfully donating a copy of “Species.” … I’m shooting for four prizes, one for jeopardy, three for the costume contest. Team effort here! A big thanks to our treasurer for donating a copy of House on Haunted Hill for us to show at Halloween. The cleanliness of the Forum is progressively getting worse. Roman: I’m usually the first one down in the Forum in the morning. When I get there it’s usually fucking disgusting. Don’t leave open cans of half full drinks. Don’t make us have to ban food and drink in the Forum. Howie: On a positive note, we’re getting garbage cans. Phil: I’d like to run a marathon of “Middle Man” on Monday. Sub AC for Life: We have new movies. I decided I would find the worst movies I could possibly think of. I have now upgraded “Barbarella” to DVD, I also got “Ed Wood,” and “Plan 9 from Outer Space.” We still don’t have a video cabinet… Historian’s Report: The Origin of the Vice President calling “CLEAN!” – Back in the time of Setsu the Enforcer, the Forum lounge in Harriman had become disgusting; we had a stained carpet and we had also attracted horrible vermin (we actually found a mummified rat in the video cabinet) and we were also attracting fruit flies. The smell was disgusting to the point where no one wanted to go into the lounge. As a result, we ripped out all of the carpets and did a lot of cleaning in the Forum and ever since then the Vice President has taken great care to call out “CLEAN!” to remind all of you Forumites to CLEAN UP YOUR SHIT. Committees PR: I made a really awesome poster, but it doesn’t look good in black and white, so I need to make another one. Fundraising: Passing Peter’s hat around is an effective means of fundraising! Old Business Drow: Have we decided what we’re going with the DVDs yet? Lukas: Peter suggested that we put the DVDs in a binder and keep them locked in the filing cabinet and we leave the DVD boxes out on shelves. CLEAN! SHELVE! Roman: REMINDER ABOUT THE HALLOWEEN EVENT… WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28th at 7:30 PM until around 11:00 PM in the Union Auditorium. We’re showing “House on Haunted Hill,” then we will have Science Fiction Forum Jeopardy with faaaaabulous prize(s), followed by “Blood Tide” (starring James Earl Jones) and then we will end with the costume contest. New Business No new business. Announcements Ian: WHO STEALS A FUCKING DOOR?! Holly: To-morrow night, a few us are making a movie run to see “Astro Boy” at 10:35 at the AMC in Stony Brook. Meet in front of the Union at 9:30, I’ll be giving rides. Lisa: Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck in Center Moriches is doing a spooky walk this Friday and Saturday from 7:00 – 9:00 PM; it costs $12. Drow: One last time… CLEAN. Meeting closed at 9:08 PM
