Meeting notes: October 1st, 2009 [Oct. 1st, 2009|10:35 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order at 8:30 PM President’s Report: By your powers combined, I call this meeting of the Science Fiction Forum to order at precisely 8:30 PM! Hey, remember last week when I said I was still President? Ha ha ha ha ha! Moving on! Vice president’s report... Vice President’s Report: I’ve got some grim news… we don’t have a treasurer or president (officially). When I went to USG at the beginning of the semester I asked what the GPA requirement for officer positions and they said that unless there was something in our constitution (and there isn’t), there was no GPA requirement. Based on this knowledge, we elected Roman and Peter. As it turns out, though USG has no GPA requirement, Student Affairs does. So, we need to nominate and elect new officers. In other depressing news, the lighting in the forum isn’t going to get fixed. Originally, USG Howie told us that he would help us getting new lighting and he had about $9000 to help us toward this project, but apparently the estimate for the work we need done was much higher. Howie suggested we have an open house to show people what we’re about and to try to encourage higher ups to help us out so we don’t have to have lights that are ineffective. Treasurer’s Report: I’m no longer officially your treasurer, but I got the budget in. Secretary’s Report: Meh. Librarian’s Report (Holly): Lukas told me to tell those of you that have been shelving thanks and keep it up. AC Report (Ian): We don’t have a Head AC, we took nominations and we’ll be doing elections later. There will be a movie run this Saturday to go see “Zombieland,” it’ll probably be 8:30 – 9:00ish, but keep an eye on the LJ. We will not be buying tickets for you, so buy your tickets in advance. If you need a ride, please contact me or just ask around. Sub AC for Life: Sub AC for Life is absent. Historian’s Report (Roman): … and moral of the story is, don’t be a jerk. And bathe. Committees PR: There are posters! They’re pretty! Post them in places where it’s legal to post them. We’re shooting for Wednesday, October 28th for our Halloween event. More on that later. Old Business Jackie: So, I was looking through our constitution the other day and I found a fun thing! A year and a half ago we voted to remove the System Administrator position, but it seems like in our subsequent revisions to our constitution we failed to remove that. I don’t think it’s necessary for us to go through the amendment process again, since we effectively have already done so… so unless anyone has a problem with it we’re just going to edit it out. (no objections raised) Peter: SHELVE. Jackie: CLEAN. New Business Phil: We have a garbage can and a recycling bin! Ian: We’re shooting for Wednesday, October 28th for the Halloween event. At this event, besides making sure we have an assload of free candy… we will be showing two public domain horror movies (thanks to a donation from Orange, we have many to choose from). We will have a costume contest. Roman has decided to put together a jeopardy game again, like we had last year. This event is free. We’ll probably start sometime between 6 and 8 and it’ll be about four hours. … also, start thinking about Festivus. Announcements Roman: Automatic toilets are a double-edged sword. Howie: Roman and I are going to Brother’s Grimm to-morrow for Magic – probably around 1:00. If anyone wants to come, just let us know. Meeting closed at 9:25 PM Elections & Nominations Your new Head AC is… Ian! Nominations for President Lukas Brian Aaron Nominations for Treasurer Lukas Aaron
