Meeting notes: September 17th, 2009 [Sep. 17th, 2009|10:28 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order at 8:30 PM President’s Report: Welcome to the first post-involvement fair meeting of the Science Fiction Forum. … I’m your new President! I don’t really have anything to report other than that. Vice President’s Report: I’m not running meeting and this is great! We don’t have a trash can in the Forum, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t clean up after yourself. The Forum is starting to accumulate a lot of trash. Treasurer’s Report: Good evening, I’m your new treasurer. I’ve been down to USG recently. Our club registration was ta_en care of by Jac_ie, so we’re officially a club. Our budget revision deadline is September 29th. Secretary’s Report: The new object of my hatred is the letter _. AC Report (Drow): I’m not sure exactly what Adib has planned… Ian adds: As soon as we have the television set up, I believe Hos_ie and I will be co-running a Red Dwarf marathon. Sub AC for Life: We has new movies! … but still nowhere to put them. I got High Anxiety and an H.P. Lovecraft double feature. Librarian’s Report: I saw Hos_ie and Julia doing some wor_ in the library, I haven’t done anything myself in a while. Peter has also been doing a lot of wor_. I just want to than_ anyone who has been shelving. We have shiftholder schedules out, so fill one out and hopefully we’ll be getting a lot more wor_ done in the future. Any help is appreciated. The faster we unpac_ the boo_s, the sooner we can get the library bac_ up and running. Historian’s Report: The Anime Club were Forumites once! The club was originally created by a Forumite named Jeff Bloc_ and it became an official club in 1992. They were once just li_e us… Committees Fundraising Matt is nominated. Matt accepts. PR Jac_ie and Holly are nominated. Jac_ie and Holly accept. Phil says something stupid. Roman assaults Phil with Nerf gun. The Ian Committee Ian nominated. Ian declines. Old Business CLEAN. SHELVE. Jac_ie: I had brought this up at meeting last wee_… there is a clause in our constitution that says the we have to have meetings every other wee_ over the summer and we DON’T do that, so we’re proposing that we ta_e that clause out so we’re not BREA_ING our constitution. This doesn’t mean we CAN’T have meetings over the summer, of course. Drow adds: The clause was originally put into the constitution because there were a number of Forumites who too_ summer classes. And I believe they were able to get a summer budget once or twice. Roman: The involvement fair was pretty successful. I see we have five new people here. Which brings us to… New Business Roman: New people! Introduce yourselves! … we lost a Batman-man not too long ago and now we gained a Batman-man. Roman: Some of you will not be familiar with this, but there has been a long standing feud/disagreement/whatever with the Animated Perspectives club (commonly _nown as The Anime Club). We’re not getting into details about why there was a feud and if you _now or thin_ you _now, _EEP IT TO YOURSELF! Now that we’re neighbours, we want to have a good relationship with them (and everyone else in club alley). IN SHORT, THE SCI-FI FORUM AND ANIMATED PERSPECTIVES ARE NOW AT PEACE. Roman: A representative of the _CF had mentioned to me recently that his club wanted to switch meeting rooms with us (apparently they had originally been slated to be in the room we have now). If we do end up switching with them, it will be announced various places online and we’ll post a sign on the door. Announcements Jac_ie: Someone from one of the Stony Broo_ newspapers came up to me at the Involvement Fair and mentioned that they’re currently loo_ing for submissions for their literary supplement. So, if you have short stories or poems that might be something to loo_ into. Jac_ie: A wee_ from to-day I-CON is hosting a free advanced screening of the movie “Surrogates” at the Stony Broo_ movie theatre. Unfortunately this coincides with Forum meeting.
