Meeting notes: April 16th, 2009 [Apr. 16th, 2009|09:04 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order at 8:00 PM President’s Report: ROMAN, SHUT UP! There are a whole bunch of things to discuss throughout various parts of the meeting. There will be an allocation later. I’m hard at work on fifteen different projects, so please… be kind. Rewind. Vice President’s Report: Clean! The boxes make it kind of difficult to do that, but clean around them. Treasurer’s Report (Ian): We have about $1900 left of our budget and counting to-night we only have two weeks to spend it. The money really has to be spent on books, because we’ve spent very little of our budget on books this year. I’ll be working with Lukas, Julia, and to a lesser extent Matt to figure out what we can get. For example, we’re planning on spending $800 to-night, if the motion passes. Secretary’s Report: Meh. Things. Librarian’s Report (Ian): Preliminary librarian’s report – please show up to your shifts. They’re important. Granted, I know a lot of shiftholders didn’t know what to do this week. There seems to be confusion about how the moving is going to occur. Lukas has a plan to take out the doubles to free up shelf space, and as an interim idea, it’s a pretty good one. We found out that a little less than quarter of our lendable library is in fact doubles. Hoskie, Darryl and I had a fun time trying to figure out all of that via ResourceMate. So, shiftholders… when you’re on your shift, start removing doubles from the shelves (in order). Make a note in the shiftholder log as to what you got up to and where you put the boxes. Once we finish that project, we have saran wrap (through a generous donation from Skip) and we’ll start wrapping the shelves. Lukas: Saturday, May 2nd we’ll be getting some hardcore packing done. Alumni, if you’re available, we would love it if you could come help us. AC’s Report: “Ian glares angrily at the non-present AC.” Sub AC for Life: We received a bunch of donations of DVDs, but a lot of them were doubles. I ordered three new DVD’s for this month: The Racketeer, Hook, and Mallrats. Historian’s Report: To-day is Chocolate Bunny Beheading Day! I bought the chocolate bunnies that had the biggest head-to-body ratio. Committees Resolution of Forum involvement in I-CON (Ian): The following people are to be pitied and we love them dearly: Jackie, Bobby, Kim, and any other Forumite who was involved in the heavy planning of I-CON and/or helping said people in staying sane. We pray for your speedy recovery. For people who helped out the Forum table, our drivers: Mohammed, Matt, Phil, and Hoskie, and people who were running the table itself: Lukas, Orange, Anthony, and myself. … and I’m counting Howie again, because of all the work he did last year. Thank you all for helping run the Forum table. We were all there for a shit-ton of hours. … Active forumites who don’t fit into any of those categories who were at either I-CON or could have gone to I-CON: FUCK YOU! I worked at least 14 hours, Lukas worked at least 18 and we really would have used more aid. I understand that a lot of Forumites were staffing other areas. The Move (Ian): Alumni, I know you are going to be unhappy about this, but I can’t give you a date as to when we will actually be moving yet. Howie from USG has to have his budget hearing to determine how much money he will have to make changes to our room (mainly, the lighting), then I have to hear from him, and then I have to inform all of you. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have to do the move deeper into the summer than we had actually planned. However, Howie, who is the facilities director, seems to genuinely like us… so I don’t think we’ll be kicked out before we have access to the space we are moving to. So before people start panicking, I’m moderately sure that we won’t have a problem. But rest in the knowledge that you are getting information as quickly as I’m getting it. We’ll probably know by the end of April as to when the room will be both legally and physically ready for us. If there are any other concerns I can address, please post a comment (preferably on the LJ, but we do check the Yahoo group as well). Advertising (Jackie): Those things that I made… they still exist somewhere. Old Business Ian: Elections are coming up. I think nominations are in two weeks and elections are in three. The positions are: president, treasurer, and secretary. Your whipping boy is gone for good… I’m graduating, bitches! Hoskie: CLEAN? New Business Ian: I would like to make an allocation to help spend a good portion of our money on books. I would like to make an allocation of $800 to Fourth World Comics for their annual 20% off trade paperback sale. Unanimous vote in favour. Announcements Ian: Happy birthday, Darryl! AA: Nicki Klein from BSG is really nice and came by the Forum table a few times. She was really interested in what we do… and she took the rest of our BSG keychains and gave them away at her table. Ian: All tribbles that got brought to I-CON disappeared. We got rid of ALL OF THEM! Skip: The pallet wrap that was purchased may not be used for any other purpose other than packing books… no wrapping people until all the books are moved (Ian adds: YOU TOOLS!). Meeting closed at 8:35 PM with the beheading of bunnies.
