Meeting notes: March 5th, 2009 [Mar. 5th, 2009|08:57 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order at 8:00 PM President’s Report: Various positive things happened over the course of this week for our allocation stuff in general. In the secondary e-mail I got that told us about the budget workshop appointment, I was also told that all club president’s need to make an appointment with someone from USG. I don’t know what the meeting is supposed to be about, but I’ve sent out an e-mail to get more information. On a personal note, I’m officially going to a grad school – I don’t know where yet, but I’ve been accepted into a grad school. So I get to keep my healthcare! Vice President’s Report: CLEAN YOU, MOTHERFUCKERS. … I like flash games. Treasurer’s Report: Several good things happened. We have the e-ticket for Jim Frenkel; we have the cheque for BJ’s; we have cheque for the caterer’s for the 40th; and Hoskie and Orange already picked up the library supplies. Secretary’s Report: The “Red Dwarf” marathon I hosted last Friday went well. Some people are now addicted (and we’re thinking about getting a couple of seasons). My work here is done! AC’s Report: To-day was PS3 day, it was good, many games were played. Next Thursday Phil will be bringing his 360 and we’ll be group playing “Fable II.” Saturday is the “Watchmen” movie run. We’re going to meet at the theatre at 5:30 to go for food but the movie starts at 7:45. I have thirteen tickets for those who I knew were going. If you still want to go, let me know (my number is on Facebook) so I can buy them in advance (tickets are $13.50). If you don’t give me money before the movie, I will break your knee caps. I’ll be getting some DVDs for the Forum soon, including the first season of Spawn the Animated Series. Sub AC for Life: “300” does not come after “2001”! Librarian’s Report (Jackie): If you are scheduled to have a shift, show up to the goddamned shift! (Ian): I’m sure the librarian would like to point out that he is thrilled to get our Demco order. (Lukas, entering at just the right moment): I need someone to cover Monday 6:00 to 8:00 and 6:30 to 8:00 Wednesday. So if you’re on campus and free at that time, it would be great if you could help out. Historian’s Report: Historian has been working 6 day weeks. Historian is not going to be ready to do the speech. … but I will be sharing my ideas with Ian who is younger and sexier and will be giving a speech in my stead. I like how no one even questioned the “Glen is Fat” non sequitur. We were talking about how nobody is supposed to spread Forum gossip until 10 years after the fact and then it goes in the Historian’s Report. Apparently whatever I saw in 2000 was not the original Log(s), but if anyone is hoarding them for any reason or just happens to knows what the first entry was please let me know. I’ve been thinking a lot about the evolution of the Forum and I think that The Forum has done a sort of Buddha thing where it has gone 1000 miles to take one step. I think the Forum is more what it used to be, perhaps a better version of what it should be. Committees The 40th Anniversary (Ian): I’m glad that older Forumites are keeping in contact with younger Forumites and asking questions. Some people have asked if the event is it going to be child friendly. There’s nothing I can think of. But what I find offensive and what you find offensive might be two very different things. You know the people who come down here and what they’re like. Just use your best judgement. But none of the events we have planned are inappropriate. … but I don’t want to make any promises. I do read the LJ and the Yahoo group, so if you have more questions, ask. Also note, that we officially have Jim Frenkel coming in. We have his plane ticket. Fundraising (Ian): Fundraising has disappeared yet again. It’s free to come to the 40th Anniversary, but we LOVE donations, especially at a time when we’re in such a state of transition. PR (Jackie): I don’t know what’s going on. Old Business Jackie: CLEAN! New Business Roman: Nude business? Announcements Kim: I posted to the LJ that I-Con is coming up soon. It’s not on Stony Brook campus this year, so you guys should start organising carpools. The Forum should have a fan table. Jackie: CLEAN! Meeting closed at 8:31 PM
