Meeting notes: February 5th, 2009 [Feb. 5th, 2009|10:22 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order 8:00 PM President’s Report: We are tentatively planning for the 40th to be Saturday, March 14th. Confirmation will be given when I hear back from Maria. I’m going to USG to-morrow to figure out what’s going on with that. The only reason it wouldn’t be on the 14th would be if we can’t get the room, which doesn’t seem like it will be a problem. Lukas and I are meeting with people at USG to scope out our new room space and to figure out what type of shelving will be optimal. Vice President’s Report: The floors like to be swept, people should do it. The trash needs to be taken out. I don’t want to clean up after you all. Treasurer’s Report (Ian): Julia’s working hard for us, you should be thankful. Secretary’s Report: I has Red Dwarf! There will be a Red Dwarf marathon instead of DS9 at the end of the month! Librarian’s Report (Ian): Our potential librarian has worked on an allocation for us for library supplies that we are in desperate need of. I hope that USG won’t shoot us down this time for not being specific enough. Wench Report (Orange): AA, Vest Paul, Lukas, Howie, Ian, Julia, Anthony, and I all catalogued a lot of books. Kingbird’s Final Betrayal is working, but it still lags like crazy. Shiftholder sign-ups are still going on, so talk to Lukas. Lukas: The shiftholder schedule will be posted on Saturday and I hope to have the library up and running by Monday. I’m going to try to get the word out and get more people to come to the library and use it. AC Report: This ends my long and terrible reign over the AC cabinet. I’ll miss you guys! … but I still have a lot of AC things going on that I will take care of. Don’t worry, I’m not dumping the 40th on anyone. I made totally awesome posters to advertise the Will Smith movie marathon which is this Friday and will start around 10 or 11 (whenever I wake up). Next Friday will be “Black Superheroes” and we’ll be showing Spawn, Blade, Blank Man, some old school Eartha Kitt Cat Woman, and some X-Men (this event will be completely Halle Berry free, so don’t worry). Regatta is coming up so we have to start thinking about it. One of the older Forumites gave us the idea to make an armada of skiffs. Lastly, I would like to thank you all even though I have been a total bitch. I would like to encourage the Forum to continue the signing out of AV keys. The thing I hope I can maintain is the extended use of labels on things that have been donated.” Speaking of which, we would like to thank Matt for donating the Transformers 80’s cartoon. Sub AC for Life: Everything is accounted for the in cabinet. Emily is not here to-day, so she told me to give her speech for the Historian position, which I will do later. Historian’s Report: Ian: Hi, Drew! Drew: What do you want to know? Adib: Tell me a story, Grandpa! *Drew tells of the early days of his librarianship* “The moral of the story is, help your librarian. Or they will eat you, or commit suicide, or have a baby. And also, if you take a secondary job in the Forum, it will bite you in the ass later and you will have more responsibility.” Committees PR (Orange): I made awesome flyers for the Will Smith movie night and I’m making even cooler flyers for the Superhero Night! Ian: Community service and other committees are tabled until we have more time to worry about them. Old Business Ian: Sherman Raftenberg Day is February 7th, which is this Saturday. We will celebrating officially next meeting. You are encouraged to bring White Castle hamburgers. Orange: Stop suggesting series for the DVDs we are going to get from Amazon. Sorry if I wasn’t specific enough last meeting. Jackie: CLEAN. New Business Hoskie: GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE! I just got off the phone with Aaron and he has just spoken to Jim Frenkel, who is apparently going to try to be here for the second weekend in March, so it looks like everything is working out. Plan for the March 14th for the 40th Anniversary! Ian: Allocation for library supplies to Demco for the following items: book cards, book pockets, steel book supports, Scotch tape dispenser, and glossy label protectors. Total coast: $139.23 Unanimous vote YES. Announcements Jackie: I don’t have thyroid disease! Meagan: I brought enough garbage bags to last through the move. Adib: Christine is dead.
