Meeting Notes: November 24th, 2008 [Nov. 24th, 2008|07:00 pm] hoskie Meeting called to order at 7:01 PM President's Report: Oh my god, we have a Hillary! Thanks to Roman for the dramatic reading. Just to reiterate what I said at the last meeting; We were introduced by various people in management and we found out they were offering us the biggest room they feasibly can. Overall they seemed impressed with us, so I think they are genuine in their offer in that this is the best they can give us. The space is the Colors Cafe in the Union. For older Forumites, this is only half the space you are probably thinking of (as half of it is now a hair salon). With the help of USG and from our kind and contributing alumni (we will use italics only for the power of good!), we can get some shelves that maximise the vertical space in what will be our new, smaller room. The room also needs better lighting. I understand that Aaron is still going to be checking for other spaces (Aaron chimes in: This is highly unlikely, but the Seawolf Computer Cluster is moving to a new building and its space in Heavy Engineering will be opening. Because it was used for the cluster, it actually has climate controls!), but as best as we can tell, we are going to be ending up in The Colors Cafe. Vice President's Report: (from behind her computer) Flash games are addicting and cheaper than real games. We're throwing out the remainder of the candy in the cauldron to-night, so if you want it, take it. CLEAN! Treasurer's Report: USG is being a pain. I went to get the cheque for the snacks, and they had actually lost our voucher with the minutes (but luckily, I had the carbon copy with me so they gave us a gift card). They still have yet to process our voucher for the ink, which is particularly annoying since they've had ELEVEN DAYS. On another note, I just got "Brain Age 2" from Orange and it is very addictive. Ian: If anyone else says anything about a game, I will kill each and everyone one of you. Secretary's Report: I actually have nothing! ... you can thank me later. AC Report: On Monday, as was proposed by Phil, we are going to have an all day Monty Python marathon. If you want to come to the Forum over Thanksgiving break and you're not a keyholder, you should probably call before since not many people will be around. The next Monday after that (before the dramatic reading), Adib will be leading us all in a communal "Fable II" playing and we will be voting on whether to be good or evil. Tuesday, December 16th will be FESTIVUS! We'll be starting off with "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". Phil will be bringing in the Festivus episode of "Seinfeld," which will be followed by "Nightmare Before Christmas," which will be followed by the Feats of Strength and the Airing of Grievances. After that will be the "Star Wars Christmas Special" - the doors will totally not be locked and you will totally not be trapped in here. I can't announce a date for this event yet, but the first time we get decent snow, we will go and create the original Star Trek cast in snow. To-night there will be a movie night themed around "It Came From Space!" we will be showing "Predator," "Independence Day," and "Mars Attacks!" Drow is not here, but he would say keep things in alphabetical order or he will hunt you down. Librarian's Report: All praise be to Phil for stopping me from playing QWOP. This guy can't run unless I move his calves and his thighs for him. It's ridiculous. As for the library, because we're waiting for... everything, we can't really do anything even if we wanted to. That's it for me except... look at my fancy Geek Squad shirt! Aaron: I swear that the online catalogue will be done by the 40th Anniversary! Vest Paul: On my last shift, I met John Hover, the most persecuted person in the library computer system. Not all of the books that were listed under his name were in the card box, so I think it may have been a mistake. Ian: I would like it to be noted that even on tiny microsociety levels, we are still cruel and oppressive. Historian's Report: *Lisa, Aaron, Orange, Hoskie, and Anthony sing "Barrett's Privateers"* Ian: Roman, be quiet. Roman: ... I was explaining to Phil what singing in a round is. Ian: Yes. You can explain to Phil later, and by explain, I mean make out with. Committees PR (Orange): We will be advertising for Festivus a lot shortly. Community Service (Roman): No. Fundraising (Roman): *chair dances unenthusiastically* Old Business Lisa: Use the goddamned website! New Business Ian: Fun thing about Festivus is that we like to give you FOOD: subs or pizza? (voting takes place) Subs win. I make a motion to allocate no greater than $150 to Quiznos for delicious subs. Acclimated. Orange: Vegetarians will be accounted for, but vegans can go fuck themselves and bring their own food. Aaron: Ian is a tyrant. Orange: That's an announcement... and old business. Roman: Show of hands who play Magic? Who goes to the Forum? Who has played Forum: The Gathering? For those who don't know... we took two of our favourite things, put them in a blender, and made a game. When the game was first made, it was extremely successful. We had drafts... and "Spider Robinson" was BROKEN and Onion totally called it. We will be making an expansion: "The Lounge Vs. Library Wars." Most of it is already made, so we can probably have it ready for the spring semester. AA: Will there be mythic rares? Roman: NO! Anthony: Will there be plainswalkers? Roman: NO! Ian: If you already have a card, you will not be getting a new one, unless your your card is woefully out of date. (a lot more chatter, which is eventually silenced) Announcements Orange: Because I am a tyrant and I have planned well into when my term officially ends. February is Black History Month! I have planned a whole lot of shit for us to do. Most of the things I want to show I have, but I need three old school Batman episodes for our "Black Superheros Night," the tagline of which is "100% Less Halle Berry." If anyone will be willing to lend us the episodes for our private and educational viewing, contact me. Episode numbers and titles will be posted soon. Meeting closed at 7:41 PM
