meeting minutes 9 8 08 -(the) Jim 09/08/08 #13863 I dont write them, I just repost them. ( I will say if you dont like the altered anniversary time, let the current 4mites know, as I did.) -(the) Jim *Meeting Notes: September 8th 2008* Meeting called to order at 6:59 PM President's Report: We're not officially a club yet, but the form has been sent in. Foolish you for electing me! Props to Sam for successfully running through every episode of Buffy. Announcement for new people, the JAM Can is for recyclables (i.e. cans and bottles), do not put non-recyclables in JAM Can. Vice President's Report: I don't have a gun, I have a brick and I'm not afraid to use it. The Forum is dirty, I'll be getting a new mop head. I'd like to have it clean by the 17th, which is the Involvement Fair. *We'll be cleaning on Friday.* Water for mopping comes from the bathroom, not the café. Treasurer Monkey: Ian and I went to USG to get a budget reallocation; we're trying to get more money. The form is due on the 26th. Secretary's Report: Yeah... I got nothin'. Librarian's Report: Aakin Patel brought in his donation, we have about 6 - 8 Orange of books. Credit to Lukas for working in the library while the rest of us bums were in the lounge watching Clone High. Kudos to Sam and Anthony as well. Let's start filling out shiftholder requests, they will probably be available by the middle of the week (definitely by Thursday). I've been looking over the request list (which is huge) and I'll probably be allocating for those when we're actually a club. We don't have internet on our computers now... CS Report: We'll have internet to-morrow. The computer we have that doesn't work will be fixed soon. JC cleared up a lot of crap on the website. *round of clapping* If anyone has artistic inclination, we want to make the website attractive, contact JC about contributing to the effort. Wench Report: I won't be around that much, don't think that I won't be watching over all you shiftholders. If you don't sign in, I will be on your ass. If you don't do work, I will be on your ass. AC Report: I've been trying to organise; through the sweat of the brows of Kim, Adib, and myself... we have furrrrrniture! Matching furrrrrrniture! Kim has reinforced the drawers on the cabinet and has added new locks; don't try to open it if you don't have a key. The VHS tapes will be coming out of the cabinet and we'll be filling it up with many nice new DVDs. Thanks to DJ who brought in a donation of DVDs and VHS tapes (like *Angel* on DVD). People that wish to be an AC or to have a key (but have lost the privilege), don't ask me about it! If I see you being a responsible Forumite and if you are around at a time when people aren't putting on movies, I will ask you if you would like to be an AC. We are now planning our movie nights in advance; there will only be one marathon in a month. We will have the list of movies up, so that you won't put on those movies during the rest of the week. *September 18th will be "Sci-Fi 101"* (classic sci-fi films like *Metropolis*) and on *September 23rd will be a Twilight Zone Marathon* (we now have the first two seasons). October is Horror Month, the marathon will be all of the *Nightmare on Elmstreet* movies. Movie nights need to be educational, so there must be a discussion. For example during "Sci-Fi 101", we will be discussing 'what makes good sci-fi.' We're working on plans for Halloween, we're going to try to get some newer movies this time (that aren't in the public domain). Jeremy donated his *Battlestar Galactica* keychain mail, Sam will be building a display for it. I have stickers that I'm going to put on all the movies that have been donated so we know what has been donated and what has come from USG funds. Sub AC for Life: I did my check and only one movie was out of place. All of my movie donations come from my Master List, however I'm running out of movies and I'm now taking suggestions. If the movies you suggest are genre, I'll probably be getting them soon. *Committees* (Substitute) Historian: Orange tells of "The Origins of the Reference Section!" and "The Cullings That Are Yet To Come!" Fundraising: *dancing* PR: Flyers that were put up around campus brought in at least seven people! Community Service: Non-genre books are being donated soon. *Old Business* Lisa: We have a website. Use it! Ian: CLEAN! Garbage goes in the garbage cans. We don't want fluffies. Orange: We are now going to put our pulps into nice boxes, without backs (and with the plastic folded over). What I need from you all are very nice boxes; like copy paper boxes and they must have a top. They will be organised by title and then by year and eventually we will go digital. Roman: The catalogue software that we have needs to be re-registered every year for a fee of $50. I would like to make a motion to allocate the money when we have it to re-register the software. Motion acclimated. *New Business* Ian: Plans for the 40th are being made. It looks like we're going to do it in spring (specifically March), so we have more time to plan and it doesn't interfere with any holidays. Voice your concerns. If it is a particularly dire concern, we will do our best to accommodate you. Orange: We have to cull the reference section. There is a disagreement over what should and should not be culled. We need to define what our reference section is for: is it for for 'non-fiction books about science fiction' or 'reference non-fiction books'? *much debate and discussion* Discussion is tabled for now. *Announcements* - If anyone wants to play *Warhammer Online*, register at game-hoppers.com . Ian: Forumites! Particularly, old Forumites! Goods, services, or random means to get goods and services that are left at our door are appreciated and will be accepted graciously. That said, we can't officially ask you for donations. Hint, hint. Wink, wink. Sam: *Dr. Horrible* will be coming out on DVD! Bobby: Wednesday, they're going to try to make a black hole! Roman: If the universe in fact *doesn't* end on Wednesday, *Heroes* premiers September 22nd.
