Here's the scoop. Finals Are Upon Us (all of the students reading this know that much). We are calling on a group viewing of DEEP IMPACT this Saturday during an early matinee time at the Brookhaven Multiplex. For today, their earliest show time is 3:45, but I don't know if that is valid for the Sat. times. In any case, we'll meet at the Forum before hand to give people rides, and as soon as we know the definite time, we will have someone write it on the blackboard. The number to check is, 632-6598 (Forum) or you can nag Leah at 689-1128. The last day of finals is Friday the 15th, and we are holding a picnic at the Sunken Meadow State Park on that day starting at 11:30 a.m. If you have finals that day, come to the picnic afterwards. If your parents are here carting your ass back home, bring them to the park, they'd probably like it. They have grills there, just bring food, kites, softball stuff, RC planes, rockets, or whatever else you think of for a picnic. The Park is located at the north end of the Sunken Meadow/Sagitous Pwk. We'll get a specific parking area to look for us before the day of the picnic. The camping idea that was going around has been postponed till the time between when the second summer term ends and when the Fall semester begins. So try to keep that time open if you want to go camping. SOFTBALL SIGN-UPs must be in by May 20th. So far on the team: Yvonne Beatnik Rob Kopp Rob "Q" Nicki possibles: The Jim (get a student id - only students, staff, faculty allowed to play) Melissa Sarah e-mail me at p********n@****.org or j*****s@**.net if you want to sign up. Games will start in June and take place mon.-thurs. (depending on when we are up) and start at either 4:30 p.m. (the time we prefer) or 6:00. You must provide your own mitt. We need at least 10 people, and of those 4 women must be on the field at all times. The female requirement doesn't seem to be a problem though. We had a comic sale/fund raiser on 4/30 and raised $152.10. The 30th Anniversary committee is still deciding on some catering choices and DJ choices. If you have options that they should know about, please contact Rob at r****p@i*.******b.edu. We have contacted Jim Frenkel and he will be available to attend the celebration. As our guest of honor we will be paying for his transportation from Wisconsin. We are accepting donations to help with these sorts of expenses. We will also be attempting to contact Spider Robinson to see if he can attend. The 30th Anniversary celebration will be held on November 13th in the Ballroom on campus. As a follow-up to the Skydiving and Whitewater Rafting trips that we have gone on, we are planning a hang gliding trip in the fall. Start saving the $150 now! Rob Kopp will be getting info on scuba diving lessons. Look for more info in the future. I am redesigning the Forum's website (www.sf4m.org) if you have stuff or ideas that you would like to see online, please contact me.
