I've been watching what's been going on the last few days on this newsgroup, and at this point I can't sit back and say nothing anymore... Eric, This is wrong. This is not constructive, it's a personal attack at 1 of 2. If you had questions as to his ability to be a good president, you could have voiced them at any point before or during nominations, or before the actual elections. Saying that he'll be a poor officer now is going to do nothing but hurt feelings even more (you said that some of the officers hurt your feelings in the past, so you must know how it feels). I have to agree with Adam on this point, and Eric since you were not at the elections or the nominations you really can't complain who gets in to office. Plus anyone willing to take or the responsibility should be given to chance to prove themselves. This kind of personal attack will not help the Forum. We all have faults, I do, and we have to give everyone the chance to prove themselves and the respect for trying to make the Forum a better place. -- Andrew Livathinos a******l@**.net http://www.li.net/~andrewl/ A Member of the HTML Writers Guild e*****n@s********.*****n.org 08/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC >to say the forum has gone to s--- is to do nothing more than make >excuses for ones own lack of involvement. the membership and history I did not say that to excuse my own inactivity. When I held shift I did everything that I could. (I never started leveling stacks, I usually took care of the lounge and returns, leveling the stacks is going to be a big project, I'm glad they've got started, now we need summer people to finish.) My "involvement" started because of the morning problem, no one was opening the forum until 2 or 3 o'clock. We would come down and the start calling officers to open up the place and they would REFUSE! That sort of disrespect for the membership pissed me off. All the efforts I put into my shift were ignored, I would usually wind up locking up again because no one would show. Coming down and wathcing four people playing magic on the floor isn't exactly my idea of fun. >i'm not going to lie. the forum did have a rough year, but there >were enough dedicated members around to support each other and >the organization (not run away and hide and bitch about all the things >that are wrong with the forum) that most of the problems have been Bitching about what's wrong with the forum? The officorium has done very little to address the complaints that were raised. As for senseless bitching, yes I've done some of that. As for justified bitching, I think I've done more of that. Not taking the time out to address my concerns on the grounds that "Well, he doesn't do anything for the forum anyway" pissed me off. It pissed a lot of us off. That sort of ad hominem attack does nothing to resolve issues, it simply hurts feelings. >resolved. next year looks as if it will be a good year and the officers >seem to have alot of potential. eric (1 0 2) has been an active >member all year. I feel like I've missed this semester. I have missed this semester actually. Ah, well. Telling us that we have no right to say things, then inviting us to say them? I'll do my share of fighting next semester. I'm trying to do recruitment this summer, I need help though. I have no idea who to talk to. Casey is planning on doing it too. Any volunteers? Eric (2 of 2)
