TV Night

From The Science Fiction Forum Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

A weekly Forum event originally on the same day as the meeting involving watching taped science fiction television shows.

TV Night was begun in 1994(?) by then-Activities Coordinator JC who would tape many of the popular science fiction TV shows of the day(including Babylon 5, whatever Star Trek series was airing at the time, Forever Knight and others). After JC left the AC position in 1996, TV Night ceased until it was revived by Drow Dave in 1998. Drow continued to do so until mid-2006 due to problems with his VCRs, the coming demise of the VHS market and a general lack of Forumite interest (probably due to the proliferation of downloading recordings of shows from the internet). An offshoot of TV night, known as DKTV, run by David "DK" Kingsley existed concurrently(and may still exist today) with TV Night. A huge library of old TV night VHS tapes exists archived within the Forum.

Shows that have been shown at TV Night included: Babylon 5, Star Trek DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise, Xena:Warrior Princess, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Pinky and the Brain, Futurama, Earth: Final Conflict, Andromeda, Galactica 2.0(the new Battlestar Galactica series), Space: Above and Beyond, Hercules, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, John Doe, Smallville, Tru Calling, Jake 2.0, Farscape, Adult Swim, Justice League, Superman(animated series), Doctor Who(New Series Season 1), Dark Angel, the X-Files, and many others.
