In the early 1980's many popular magazines were available in Braille. Lisa Selitzer subscribed to most of the SF titles such as Galaxy, Analog, and Asimov's, read them diligently, and then donated them to the Forum. (Before the Great Fire the 4M boasted the largest collection of Braille SF in the state).
Also available was a braille version of Playboy, but not for long. After a few issues the Reagan Administration at the urging of Ed Meese canceled the funding for Playboy in Braille. Decrying the obvious censorship, Lisa complained rhetorically "What do they think I'm doing? Looking at pictures? Thousands and thousands of tiny erect nipples? I'm reading the articles, you morons, which is more that you do! It's not Braille Porn."
